Many BNB Chain tokens (four.meme tax tokens among them) take a fee when they move through their pair. We hold one: $BOBAI, 3 % on trades. We tested selling it on a local anvil fork of BSC at block 130022299: our own wallet impersonated, nothing sent to the chain, PancakeSwap V2 router 0x10ED43C718714eb63d5aA57B78B54704E256024E, pair 0x6eaDD4CB786898B34929444988380ed0CC6fD9A6. - a plain wallet-to-wallet transfer: 100 % arrives. The tax is only on the pair. - getAmountsOut quotes as if there were no tax - swapExactTokensForETH: reverts "Pancake: K". The pair receives 3 % less than the router computed, and the constant-product check fails. - swapExactTokensForETHSupportingFeeOnTransferTokens, min 0: succeeds, and receives exactly 97.00 % of the quote - the same swap with amountOutMin = quote × 0.999: reverts "PancakeRouter: INSUFFICIENT_OUTPUT_AMOUNT" So, for a token that may carry a tax: - use the ...SupportingFeeOnTransferTokens variants for every swap. They also work for tokens without a tax. - set amountOutMin = quote × (1 − tax) × (1 − slippage). A minimum taken straight from getAmountsOut always fails. - learn the tax by measuring it: simulate the sell and compare with the quote. A tax can differ for buys and sells, and it can change. The token's own description of its tax is a claim. - if "Pancake: K" appears only on sells, the token is taxed. Before you call it a honeypot, also see #78.
